Tank liner material?

I am planning to have someone build a tank for me. What is the best material to use as a liner inside the tank?

from tim s. via the floattalk mailing list...

Contact pool company's as they will be able to help you - it's a standard swimming pool liner that you need - they can be ordered as a bespoke construction and can be made to your exacting measurements. I recently saw a physiotherapist hot / cold plunge pool set up and the liners were an excellent fit.

I've never built a float tank so this is really just a guess. I think whatever they use for waterbeds would be the kind of material you would want since waterbed-type heaters are what are used to heat the tank. Moreover if you gave Glenn Perry a call at Samadhi Tank Co. I'm sure he would be willing to give you some advice and guidance.

For new people that may read this thread, I used two 10x13' pond liners (one for safety liner) from Home Depot. They cost \$60 a piece. I think they are made out of PVC. They were a bit of a pain, but not all that bad. You sort of fold the inside corners over like an inverted gift wrap job. I imagine that if you can find a custom-fit liner cheap enough it would be the way to go.
